| 1. Are there any specific browser settings needed for College Algebra, an Internet Approach? |
Your browser must have the following preferences enabled: JavaTM, JavaScript and "accepts cookies."
These are all enabled as the default setting.

Certain browsers may add temporary files to your hard drive when Helper Application files are opened.
These may be deleted after quitting College Algebra, an Internet Approach.

| 4. Using Netscape Navigator 4.x on the Macintosh, sometimes no scroll bars appear on a page that requires them. |
There is a known problem in Netscape Navigator 4 which fails to draw scroll bars in certain circumstances.
Netscape has fixed this problem in version 4.04.1 available 02/10/1998.
You must download this latest version from Netscape's site.

| 5. Why does the syllabus window reload when I click the Syllabus button again in Internet Explorer 4.0 on the Macintosh? |
Because of the way Internet Explorer 4.0 handles windows, pressing the "Syllabus" button when the syllabus window is already open will reload the window instead of simply bringing it to the front.
To avoid this problem, just click on the Syllabus window to bring it to the front when you wish to go to the next item in the syllabus.

| 6. Why do the arrow buttons in the navigation bar sometimes not function properly on the Macintosh? |
When a browser window is refreshed (in Navigator this also occurs when resizing) certain data is lost including the history information for the forward and back arrows in the College Algebra, An Internet Approach toolbar.

| 8. Why can't I view the videos or animated graphs? |
To view the videos and animated graphs, you must download and install RealPlayerTM 5.0 or G2 by RealNetworksTM.
You can download the latest version of RealPlayer from RealNetworks' site.

| 9. Why can't I get the Edit Graphs to work with Internet Explorer 4.0 on the Macintosh? |
You must add "Edit Graph" as a helper application.
Easy instructions follow, but see your Internet Explorer documentation for complete details.
Run Internet Explorer 4 and choose "Preferences" under the "Edit" menu.
Select File Helper (under Receiving Files) on the left and click the Add... button to add a helper application.
In the box labeled Description type "Edit Graph" (without quotes), for Extension enter ".gc2" and for MIME Type enter "application/x-editgraph".
The File Type should be "TEXT".
Select Browse and a dialog box appears which allows you to find the "Edit Graph" application in the "College Algebra, an Internet Approach" folder that you downloaded from the Tools page.
When you have browsed to "Edit Graph" select it and click "Open".
Under Download Destination select Temporary Items Folder. Under Handling select View with Application.
You're done, so click "OK".

| 11. Why can't I get the Edit Graphs to work with Netscape Navigator 4.x on the Macintosh? |
You must add "Edit Graph" as a helper application.

Run Netscape Navigator 4 and choose Preferences under the Edit menu.
Select Applications (under Navigator category) and click the New button to add a helper application.
In the box labeled Description type "Edit Graph" (without quotes), for Mime Type enter "application/x-editgraph" and for Suffixes enter "gc2".
Then click the Application radio button and select Choose.
A dialog box appears which allows you to find the "Edit Graph" application
in the "College Algebra, an Internet Approach" folder that was created when you ran the College Algebra, an Internet Approach installation program.
When you have browsed to "Edit Graph" select it and click "Open".
Click "OK" and you will notice that "Edit Graph" has been added to the list of helper applications.
You're done, so click "OK".
