1. How do I open *.pdf files in Microsoft® Internet Explorer on my computer running Mac® OS?
Download the latest version of Adobe Acrobat® Reader™ from www.adobe.com. After installing the application, locate the PDFViewer plug-in that is included with Acrobat products (version 4.0 and later). Move the PDFViewer file from the Adobe Acrobat [4.0 or 5.0] Web Browser Plug-in folder into the Internet Explorer: Plug-ins folder. Note: Before you can use the plug-in, you need to make sure that Acrobat is deselected as a helper application in Internet Explorer.

2. How do I open *.pdf files in Microsoft® Internet Explorer on my computer running Microsoft® Windows®?
Download the latest version of Adobe Acrobat® Reader™ from www.adobe.com. Adobe Acrobat 4.x and later and Adobe Acrobat Reader 4.x and later include ActiveX® plug-in files for Windows NT® 4.0, Windows® Me, Windows® 2000, Windows® 98, and Windows® 95. (Acrobat 4.x and Acrobat Reader 4.x do not support Windows Me.) The plug-in files install automatically with Acrobat and Acrobat Reader. If you use Acrobat 3.0, you need to manually move the Microsoft® ActiveX® plug-in (Nppdf32.dll or Nppdf16.dll) from the Acrobat [3.0]/[Acrobat or Reader]/Browser folder into the Internet Explorer\Plugins folder.

3. How do I open *.pdf files in Netscape® Navigator 4.x on my computer running Microsoft® Windows®?
Download the latest version of Adobe Acrobat® Reader™ from www.adobe.com. If you use Navigator 4.x, which is included with Netscape Communicator, you may need to manually move the Navigator plug-in (Nppdf32.dll) from the Acrobat [5.0 or 4.0]/[Acrobat or Reader]/Browser folder into the Netscape\Communicator\Program\Plugins folder.

4. How do I download and use data files for the TI-89 or TI-92 graphing calculators?
To download the data file, click on the data file link. Your browser may display a dialog box asking how to handle this file. Choose the"Save this file to disk" option. Next, choose a location on your computer's local hard drive to save the file. To use the data file with your TI-89 or TI-92 calculator, you must use the TI-GRAPH LINK™ or TI Connect™ software and cable to load the data file to the graphing calculator. Information about TI-GRAPH LINK and TI Connect is available from Texas Instruments at www.ti.com.

5. How do I set up a symbolic math system, such as Maple®, Mathcad®, or Mathematica®, as a helper application in Microsoft® Internet Explorer on my computer running Mac® OS?
Run Internet Explorer and choose "Preferences" from the "Edit" menu. A dialog box named "Internet Explorer Preferences" will be displayed. Locate the category named "Receiving Files" and select "File Helpers" from the category list. Next, click the "Add" button. A dialog box named "Edit File Helper" will be displayed. In the dialog box, locate the section labeled "Representation". In the box labeled "Description", enter the name of the application ("Maple", "Mathcad", or "Mathematica"). In the box labeled " Extension ", enter the application's file extension ("mws" for Maple, "mcd" for Mathcad, and "nb" for Mathematica). In the box labeled "MIME type", enter "application/x-" followed by the name of the application ("maple", "mathcad", or "mathematica"). In the section labeled "File Type", click on the "Browse" button and locate the symbolic math system application. In the section labeled "Handling", select "View with Application" from the pull-down menu. Review your settings and click "OK" to close the "Edit File Helper" dialog box. Finally click "OK" to close the " Internet Explorer Preferences " dialog box.

To view the animations, rotatable graphs, and videos, you must have QuickTime™5 installed on your computer. Download the latest version of QuickTime from www.apple.com.

7. Are there any specific browser settings needed for Internet Calculus?
Your browser must have the following preferences enabled: JavaTM, JavaScript and "accepts cookies." These are all enabled as the default setting.
