1. How do I open *.pdf files in Microsoft® Internet Explorer on my computer running Mac® OS 8.6–9.2?
Download the latest version of Adobe Acrobat® Reader™ from www.adobe.com. After installing the application, locate the PDFViewer plug-in that is included with Acrobat products. Move the PDFViewer file from the Adobe Acrobat Web Browser Plug-in folder into the Internet Explorer: Plug-ins folder. Note: Before you can use the plug-in, you need to make sure that Internet Explorer's preferences are set to use the PDFViewer plug-in.

2. How do I open *.pdf files in Microsoft® Internet Explorer on my computer running Mac® OS X?
Download the latest version of Adobe Acrobat® Reader™ from www.adobe.com. At this time OS X allows PDF files to be downloaded and viewed within an Acrobat Reader window. Third-party PDF Browser Plug-ins are available on the Internet that allow the PDF to be viewed within the browser window.

Download the latest version of Adobe Acrobat® Reader™ from www.adobe.com. The plug-in files install automatically with Acrobat and Acrobat Reader.

4. How do I open *.pdf files in Netscape® Navigator 4.x on my computer running Microsoft® Windows®?
Download the latest version of Adobe Acrobat® Reader™ from www.adobe.com. If you use Navigator 4.x, which is included with Netscape Communicator, you may need to manually move the Navigator plug-in (Nppdf32.dll) from the Acrobat 5.0/Reader/Browser folder into the Netscape\Communicator\Program\Plugins folder.

5. How do I view animations?
To view the animations you must have Macromedia® Flash™ 6 Player installed. The latest version of Flash™ Player can be downloaded from www.macromedia.com.

6. How do I view Simulations and Editable Graphs on my computer running Mac® OS?
For Mac® OS 8.6–9.2, the Mac® OS Runtime for Java (MRJ 2.2 or higher) must be installed. The Mac® OS Runtime for Java is available at www.apple.com. For Mac® OS X, the Java™ runtime environment is built into the Macintosh operating system and does not need to be installed separately. For all Mac® operating systems, your browser must have Java enabled.

7. How do I view Simulations and Editable Graphs on my computer running Microsoft® Windows®?
The Microsoft Virtual Machine for Internet Explorer (Microsoft VM) or the Java™ Virtual Machine must be installed. The Microsoft VM is available at www.microsoft.com. The Java Virtual Machine is available at java.sun.com. In addition, your browser must have Java enabled.

8. Why are mathematical equations not displaying properly in Internet Precalculus, Sixth Edition, Guided Examples, Synthesis Examples, Tutorial Exercises, Pre-Tests and Post-Tests?
The Guided Examples, Synthesis Examples, Tutorial Exercises, Pre-Tests and Post-Tests require special mathematical fonts. To install the fonts, click on the 'Tools' link on the Table of Contents page. For Windows users, click on the 'Windows Tools' link. For Macintosh users, click on the 'Macintosh Fonts archive' link. You may need to restart your computer for the fonts to take effect. Below is an example of what an equation looks like with fonts installed and without fonts installed.

9. Are there any specific browser settings needed for Internet Precalculus, Sixth Edition?
Your browser must have the following preferences enabled: Java™, JavaScript and "accepts cookies." These are all enabled as the default setting.
